good day guys

How often should we check the gear oil level of a 2000 honda civic?  since i stopped having it serviced in a casa since 2006, i have not checked it at all.

How can i tell that it needs additional gear oil?

Maraming salamat po!

good morning all,

i don't understand much about cars so any suggestions where i can have this checked?   hindi ako from metro manila so can any car repair shop in my area do it or do they need special tools?

for your information i'm now retired so i now have to attend to all these details myself whereas before i can request people from the office to take care of all these things.

i would appreciate all the help from you guys. thanks again.

again, pardon me if i would ask about minor or sometimes silly problems/questions re: car maintenance.

Kung gear oil lang and other lubrication questions, you can go to any reputable gasoline stations. Im sure they can help you there.  They also have in-house mechanics who can help.

thanks for the advice, vivo!!!.

is it automatic or mt? a/t has a dipstick and you can follow your user manual to check it. m/t usually wala so just drain and refill, just follow the mfr recommendation

edge868

it's manual transmission. do you have to drain it  or just add to it?

Leo C.

Drain / Change the oil kung meron budget.  Pag wala budget, at pag kulang lang, pwede dagdag lang muna.

Here's another routine you can follow:

1. Go to a service station or mechanic near you and ask for advice regarding your problem.
2. List down the mechanic's advice in detail including specifications of parts and brands of
parts, chemicals, etc. to be used for the repair.
3. Go to your compluter and log in to this forum and ask the guys here for confirmation or for second opinions.
4. If you get some convincing or positive feedbacks from this forum, then you are in the right track. Good luck!!!

kung last service mo 2006 pa i think its about time to have it changed. your tranny will love you. ;D kahit regular gear oil lang as long as it meets the oe recommendations, shouldn't be too expensive.

good  morning guys,

i finally got my gear oil changed by a reputable gas station in the area. The cost was less than P700 including the service charge. It was delayed a while 'cuz i had to change my timing belt first after i noticed that the car was running a little sluggish. I got the original timing belt from a honda dealer for P1,200+ and the shop charged me P1,000 for the job.

thanks again to you guys for the help!!! :occasion14:

speedyfix

be sure they put the correct gear oil. you shouldn't use the typical 90 weight gear oil for hondas.
