how good is the KIA BRAND?

Anybody here who owned a Car which Brand a KIA? i just wanted to know about your comments about this car... hope to hear from you guys....

First anf foremost, I don't own a KIA but owns a Hyundai, they're under the "Hyundai Kia Automotive Group" anyways. If your talking about quality of these Korean cars nowadays, well they're good. "Almost" at par w/ the 3 Jap auto leaders worldwide, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. But the older models of Kia has poorer quality. I suggest be more car model specific to have more detailed comments.

I don't own a kia either. but I would consider some of their models like the Carens and the Sorento.


10-15 years ago, I would not even consider any kia vehicle...    but their quality and design have improved much since then.

Old Kias weren't great. The best you could say about them was that parts were plentiful and cheap. The Kia Pride was a decent car... based on the Mazda Demio / Ford Festiva... and parts are ridiculously cheap for the Pride.

The new Kias share everything, engines, chassis, etcetera... with Hyundai, but they have their own design teams and suspension engineers, so they feel different in the way they look and drive.

oh i see.. Thanks so much for your replies my fellow poster! I really appreciated a lot.
Now i know better about how good is Kia Brand since my brother has owned this car. But it was such a good car. And if ever i have my own car someday im not aftering the latest Brand and expensive one but as long as there is a car who i can call my own and as long i can drive anywhere.. :-)

Sir, I own a 2010 Kia Rio EX 1.4L M/T, and so far it's a reliable car for daily city-driving.  :thumbsup:

From what I've heard when I talk to fellow car enthusiasts at work, Kia cars are fuel-efficient.  However, I have yet to prove that, because when I measure my trips, I average only about 9-10 km/L.  I tried removing my spare tire (insured naman, 24/7 assistance for flat tires and such, hehe), and all the other stuff inside the car to make it lighter.  The most I could get out of it was 10.4km/L.  Maybe it's just the way I drive this manual car, but I'll try to figure out how I can maximize fuel efficiency.

And yeah, the designs of Kia's cars have improved in recent years.  This is how mine looks po (not my actual car, don't have time pa to snap up photos of my own):
