I have a 1997 lancer glxi Matic. After ko magpa-change ng engine oil and ATF, madalas na umilaw yung check engine warning light kapag galing sa 'cold start' or 'matagal naka off yung engine'. Napa diagnose ko na sa casa and they advised na mapalitan yung Composition Sensor. Pumayag naman ako na mapalitan agad and it cost me 5.6k pero umiilaw pa rin yung check engine until now. Sabi nila kailangan ko din daw mapaayos/replace yung front engine harness and it would cost me roughly 12k daw. Na experience niyo na ba ito? Papatulong sana ako baka kasi mapagastos lang ako uli tapos hindi parin maayos pag binalik ko lang sa casa. Thanks a lot!

that is a hit or miss type of troubleshooting, and very costly. check engine light comes up because some sensors are not registering correct. could be some connectors were knocked loose when the ATF was changed. Is the car OBD ready? then a
diagnostic tool can be hooked up to get the codes and localize the cause of check engine light.

im guessing o2 sensor.  :)

yah, get it checked somewhere else with an obd scanner if you're car is equipped like tip tipid said.

Ask to run a diagnostic to identify the problem. Those CEL has a meaning which is somewhat like this:

erratum: cam position sensor (Camshaft Position Sensor) pala yung pinalitan sa kotse ko hindi composition sensor. Fyi. Thanks

if you know the location of the cam position sensor, maybe you can check the socket/plug connector for corrosion or loose contact. the connector if defective can be replaced by cutting the wires and splicing the new connector.
