So, let's all go out guys and pretend we have cold cash and buy 2 cars each... of course they won't sell but when Management sees the demand of cash buyers without the accessories, then maybe they will reconsider....  ;D ;D ;D

So it means that all the stocks are not yet spoken for as previously mentioned in other articles. If the stocks are all sold out why continue with this kind of offer? Does this mean that toyota is creating a false sense of high demand so that they could create this situation? Now how can that be right business practice?

You selling it... it's not a basic commodity... you decide what it's worth. I don't get how anyone could charge a million bucks for a mechanical watch that's about as accurate as a Chinese knock-off alarm clock, either, but that's life. :D

Probably all units were "spoken for", but the dealers themselves "spoke for them". :D

The prices are outrageous, but Honda and Toyota have charged similar premiums for "TRD" and "Mugen" models in the past, and they've managed to sell those, so...

Update:

I verified with Toyota Bicutan that they do not force their customers to buy the accessories which is good news. So the waiting begins...

However, the other dealers tell me that even if you wait in line you still need to purchase the accessories.  :dontknow:

Oh and another story...so the Toyota dealers tell me that if I am really interested then I need to make a non refundable Php 50k deposit. So I ask what if my unit does not arrive and I am not allocated one? Will I not be refunded??? Exact words of the SR "Tingin ko naman po mare refund." Really really malabo dealing with these dealers. So ok, if I make a deposit will I be guaranteed the unit and color that I want? No. So if I make a deposit and there is no guarantee that I will receive a unit(I am willing to settle for any colour) then why do I even need to make a deposit? "Siyempre sir para malaman ni Toyota na seryoso kayo". So I ask one final question...if I am making a commitment of Php 50k then why will they not commit to providing me a unit??? They really did not answer that one. This is really getting very frustrating...

:violent1:

So in my quest for the GT86, anyone who has the spare cash to burn on accessories can get a red one at Toyota Pasong Tamo(Php 399,000 accessories) and a black one at Toyota Abad Santos(Php 500,000 accessories). They are ready to release these units anytime. Fyi.

Paul

so i guess the best thing here is langawin muna mga units nila for them to drop these silly schemes.

There's always a sucker. I've seen Forts, Hiluxes and Navaras driving around with those garish body kits and mags the dealers bundle.

Carloboy

Same goes, when the Fortuner was launched before, you have to wait for 1 year to get a unit, also if you want one, you have to buy DVD monitor thru casa. Thats the time na ang kalaban lang ng Fortuner is the Ford Everest and the old Mitsubishi Montero Sport. Right now, tambak ang unit ng Fortuner, because madami ng choices, Montero Sport, Everest, Alterra, Sportage, Santa Fe and the new Trailblazer.

Hopefully, Honda should bring their Civic Type-R, Mitsubishi should reborn their FTO and Eclipse for the same price as the 86 and Nissan should also reborn their 200SX or Silvia.

DTNS

the GT86's only real competition are the BRZ and the Genesis Coupe.

The 50k deposit is actually their advance commission :) It's like you're paying them advance for throwing empty words with saliva on you. If you grab this tactic, it's like you allow people to spit on you for being gullible  :homo: :thefinger: . :)

Have worked in a dealership before way back and this was their practice. Agents nowadays are more of bank representatives. They point you to avail of the promo with a 5 year knot so as to get more commissions.  :ban: Kanya kanyang diskarte lang yan ng dealers and you've heard horror stories about these attractive modus. Of course, they'd get away with it.  :evil5:

Hindi namin pinapansin masyado yung bumibili ng cash kase maliit lang commission but added points naman din for performance incentives. I remember a time when I had a customer with almost a 70% DP on an SUV and the bank didn't approve. They wanted it to be 50% + higher interest rate and that's just the base unit without accessories. Customer didn't grab it and went to another dealer and got what he wanted.

Sir Vivo is right, it should be reported to DTI for bad business practices.

Hyundai Accent 1.4 2012
Hyundai Getz 1.1 2009
Suzuki Celerio 1.0 2010
Mitsubishi Galant VR6 1997
Mitsubishi Galant 2.0 1990
Toyota Corona 2.0 1991

Brent

Bago umabot sa DTI, dapat ireport sa TMP yan. A lot of sales agents don't pay attention to their handbooks and training as well. Feeling kasi nila hotcakes mga Toyota vehicles ngayon. They should remember that the world is round. What if other brands come up with better cars?

UPDATE:

Talked to another dealer and it's pretty much the same story. They require in house financing only BUT they commit to have the unit ready at the end of the month or at least before december.  :dontknow:

On a side note I would like to thank Brent for raising this issue to TMP management. I just got off the phone with customer relations and they commit that they will look into this and provide feedback. This was very unexpected and much appreciated. Thank you again Brent!  :cheer:

I will keep you all updated. Thanks everyone for your input and comments! :)

Just a thought, is this car available in the gray market?

alexanderb

Yes it is but surprisingly it's more expensive in the grey market. Also, I don't think it comes with a warranty in the grey market...

Yes, the FR-S one, and alexanderb is correct, it's more expensive but still got sold :P

IMHO they can't play this game much longer anymore since the BRZ is available locally na. :guns:
