Gasoline Overflow

I went to a gas station to fill up my car. The sensor in the fuel nozzle that was supposed to shut off the flow automatically was not working. Eventually the tank overflowed and gasoline poured out of the car. Part of the paint where the gasoline overflowed lost its smoothness (like a plastic cover removed), but the silver paint is still there.

Should I call the gas station and ask for compensation, or just stop filling up there?

ask for compensation!

How much more should I ask for? Should I get an estimate first? They've already reduced the bill from 1270 to 1100. And the damage to the paint is not obvious. I had to look closely and feel around to see where the gasoline flowed.
Off topic: will this have a long term damage to the car?
