Hi Guys!

Newbie here. I just wanna seek your help. I'm a little bit confused for which car should i go for my budget.

my choices are:
a) Honda City 1.5L E CVT
b) Ford Fiesta or Ecosport
c) Vios E AT or MT
d) Hyundai Accent.

Which is the best deal among those choices? based on price, maintenance, fuel consumption and resale value. Thank you guys!

When planning to buy a car you should always start with some more fundamental choises like:

•   Sedan, hatchback, crossover or MPV?
•   AT or MT?
•   Petrol or diesel?

Only when these questions are answered based on your needs and wants, does it make sence to start talking about specific models and their running costs. If for example you want or need a crossover, your choise is between the Ecosport and the Cross i20, not the Ecosport and the Accent.

As for fuel consumption all your listed models come with 1,3 to 1,5 liter gasoline engines, and their fuel consumption will be pretty similar. So that is not going to help you choosing between them. MT variants will consume a bit less than AT variants, particularly if the AT is a tradional 4-speed torque converter. Also sedans or hatchbacks will consume a bit less than crossovers and MPVs, because they are lower and ligther.

These differences however are really minor, and with gasoline at 32-35 peso pr. liter, they are hardly going to be the determining factor in choosing a new car. The really main decision to be made regarding fuel consumption is, does your driving pattern varrent investing in a diesel? And if it does, can you live with the fact, that this limit your choise of vehicle considerably, since only one of the models on your list is available with a diesel engine?

As for depreciation Toyota and Honda generally tend to hold their value a bit better than Ford or Hyundai. The Ecosport however break this pattern by holding its value extremely well. But there is no way to know, if it is also going to be like that 3-5 years from now, when novelty interest in the model has expired.

Some factors must be met like the one mentioned above. It's not only the budget. Fundiver, good points as well. Brand preference perhaps? What are you really looking for in a car? I'd help us give some opinions better.
