i'm having trouble finding a high output alternator. i am worried because my electrical might not take it. the manual on my car says 75 amps on the alt. i read somewhere that if the alternator can't supply the power, it takes it form the battery. so in any case that i can't find a good alt will a 2nd battery do the job? does it make sense to add a 2nd battery? if it will does anyone know how to do it and what do you need to make it happen? thanks

edit: pwede bang iparewind ang alternator to a higher output?

Why don't you look replace your alternator instead?
I replaced mine with a 90amp. I think my stock is 60-70. I don't know how much help it is though coz tinanggal ko sounds ko to replace it with a new set. Surplus lang binili ko, but I've had no problems with it so far. Bought it for 2k yata.

The best is malakas na alternator tapos dalawa battery mo.

Pangalan nung shop is Ramosos. Wala ako phone number nila e. Sabihin ko sayo pag mahanap ko. Basta from EDSA, right ka sa Evangelista. Look for Robert Ramoso.

hehehe, so schuey you also hang out there? i try to get as much input as possible. sabi nga, 3 sides to every story ;)

Your problem will be worse with an extra battery. The battery actually presents extra load to your charging system. So your amps will actually be getting less power. They suck up power even if they are fully charged.

In fact, using a smaller battery that is enough to start the car is a smarter choice. Kaya nga maliliit ang batt ng new car. It pressents less load. Car manufacturers know this. Kaso mga tayo may bigger is better attitude. Mali.

The extra battery will only work if you listen with engine off. No sounds while angine runs and charges batteries. Then use battery when engine is off. But continuously draining your batts will destroy them. This is a classic case of lose-lose situation.

Don't worry to much kaya yan ng alt mo ok ;D

yeah, i could emphathize with you. marami nga silang tips and tricks not to mention good technical thingie's there. may nag bigay na nga ng procs at wiring kung pano gawin. pero i'm stupid doing it the first time kay wait out ko muna after the installation of my stuff... then see. atleast i know what to do. well, there's not harm in asking.  ;D

i've been to LA once - disneyland(anaheim), universal, hollywood, rodeo drive and downtown LA. pero business trip not on vacation or anything. big freeways and always traffic. uso rin pala jan ang gitgitan hehehehe. kala ko manila traffic lang uso. well, send me pics sa eb nyo. matitindi yun mga setup nila.

Another that is worth considering is Installing a digital voltage monitor......I bought mine in Japan, baka meron na dito.  You can see the actual voltage charging of your battery while listening and driving, especially at night.

   Jake,

It should be installed inside, it must  be visible to the driver. It will come with a plug for the lighter accessory but I have mine directly connected. I use the lighter outlet for charging cellphone.

This will also tell you if your alternator is not charging properly or your battery not responding to your alternator meaning gradually deteriorating.

Some Jap. SUV and truck and american SUV has them on the cockpit already. But for normal jap. cars locally has none.
