Well, if its bad you will feel it, like your engine is stuttering / hesitating at WOT and/or heavy load.

Causes include ignition mapping that is too advanced, AFR is lean, intake air temp is too hot, fuel octane rating is low as per your engine's requirements, or there is a foreign substance in your combustion chamber (oil or water).

hmmm... engines not hesitating at wot but ive been having problems with my ecu... seem to me it cant compensate for any sudden fluctuations in my rpm hmmmmm  ???
is a 95 ron fuel sufficient for a high compression engine (cr 10.5:1)

RS_Sprint

WHat do you mean when you say sudden fluctuations in your RPM?

Sorry, medyo vague yung pagkakapost mo dun di ko ma-gets eh. :)

when  my aircon is turned on it takes a while before my rpm stabilizes... sudden braking and my rpm dips, sometimes it goes all the way down until it stops...
sometimes at idle the needle goes up and down
had the idle-up checked by my mechanic sa ecu daw problema, it cant get the correct idle level

dude,

what's ur ride? mods? try borrowing another ECU of the same model of your car so u can isolate the problem. usually naka "check engine" pag may problem sa wiring ng ecu.

btw, just want to share, nabawasan yung engine pinging ng car ko when i switched to stock honda spark plugs. before i was using split fire.

nic

Also check your vacuum/pcv hoses. Leaks or clogging on these will affect idling as well.
I also had an idling problem before and I was told by a mechanic that it was a defective ECU. Had a 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion and it turned out to be a clogged pcv that cost me P300 to fix.

Nic brings up a very good point.  A lot of mechanics like accusing the ECU for idling problems when they don't have
any basis for pinning the blame on the ECU.  Most of them  don't even have the proper diagnostic equipment.  Beware of the mechanic that likes to sound knowledgeable and up-to-date when all he's really familiar with is a carburated engine with old style contact point and condenser .  A lot of the problems are caused by misrouting of vacuum hoses or the disconnection and or clogging of same.  Just keep this in mind so they dont take you for a ride.
Everything we do on earth leaves a track....May they be one's we'd

Adrian

how do you get rid of 'tope'?  can we make a checklist for this-- possible culprit and remedy?  i think it will be very helpful for most of us... and, does it (tope) have something to do when your car emmits a lot of gas fumes?

JACKSON

maybe you can try using higher ocatne gas, or you can try adjusting your ignition timing, or another possible cause that either one of your spark plugs are busted

kiro

just want to revive the topic.
kasi i hear this fast "clank-clank-clank" sound evrytime i step on the gas...tope ba yun?
how do i get rid of it?
(i'm using vortex gold and i have ngk-r spark plugs)
thanks... ;D

slickae92red

kiro, your engine needs tuning.
clean your throttle.
check for your correct timing (not too much advance).
A/F adjustment.
clean plugs.
use gasoline that have the highest octane rating since your engine is required to use at least 100 RON.

this is assuming all vaccums and hoses are not leaking,
ecu is working perfect,
injectors are flowing properly. etc.
