I'm currently using a RF 600.4 punch series amplifiers. currently sa setup ko channel 1 and 2 powers the front seps. then cahannel 3 and 4 are bridged to power a kicker solobaric L5 12" (wired for 4ohm load) in a 2 cu ft box. my questions are:

a. is the bridged channel pumping out 150W RMS or 300W RMS??

b. What is the minimum power requirement for the L5 12"??

c. Would a monoblock amp be advisable to use for a SQL setup?? if so what RMS rating would i be shopping for??

I would appreciate your valuable help and input on this matter, thanks...

a. the bridged channel of the RF 600.4 is pumping out 300W RMS to the sub.

b. the recommended power for the Kicker S12L5 is 600W RMS.

c. im guessing that the sub is dual 2 ohms. if so, you can rewire the voice coils to have a final impedance of 1 ohm. then get a mono amp whose power output is 600W RMS @ 1 ohm.

ment,
dunno about minimum power requirement.  some say 2 channels of the taiwan-made alpine v12s can make it pound.  but if you wanna match it, billabong's right, you can make the sub go as low as 1 ohm and look for a monoblock amp that can provide it with 600w.

not sure if kicker has a monoblock good till 1 ohm, but DLS does.

I dont think the amp can take 2ch bridge at 600w kasi yung model is 600.4 total power is 600w and i think bridge at 2ohms is 600w not 1ohm since 300w at 4ohms. i think 75wx4ch yan or 150wx4ch at 2ohms or 300wx2ch at 4ohms but not 2ohms stable at bridge mode am i right :)

Boss A+,
yes, you're right.  bridging 2 channels of the 600.4 will only produce 300w but at 4 ohms.  the amp will be stable at 2 ohms for 150w per channel, but i don't think it will be stable at 2 ohms bridged.

thanks for the reply ....

Would a RF Power 450.2 be sufficient? just for clarity / in-car sound quality....

with rockford, word of mouth now-a-days is getting the power series instead of their punch, or if you have access to their type rf it would be better... i've heard that since RF sealed the deal with circuit city(ata), they've somewhat lost a bit in thier quality since they have to mass produce the stuff and sell it at lower price which means putting in cheap materials as well. at sabi pa is their technology is quite old - no new stuff is put in.... oh well, talk is cheap. i own previously an RF Punch too and its ok. don't quote me on this since its just talk... i don't know eto kase tsismis na nabalitaan ko lang nun pa sa ibang international forums and it just was'nt one forum, maybe 2 or 3 different ones.

thanks for that info. so far happy camper ako sa RF ko. it somehow made my entry level jbl GTO seps sound detailed.

Inaalok lang sa akin yung RF Power 450.2 ... dati daw dina drive niya is kicker S12L7 .....

Balak ko kasi full active yung front ko. my plan for the rf punch 4 channel ko is this: yung channel 1 and 2 para sa Lh/RH tweeter then channel 3 and 4 para sa Lh/RH woofer. May setting naman sa Crossover na x20 yung freq for front then standard lang yung rear. tama kaya nasa isip ko?
