Test drove the new Pajero recently at the plant, both gas and diesel versions. I dunno about the new Prado but the diesel version really hauls a** even from idle!

Both gas and diesel versions loves to rev although power delivery in the gas engine is a bit too linear; it doesn't have that flat torque band you would expect from an SUV. Torque for the diesel is a wall-climbing 38.8 kg/m or quite close to 300 lbs/ft of torque, not bad for a turbo-diesel 4-banger.

ABS-EBD and integrated Traction-Stability control are
standard fit. Its drive-by-wire, and has real leather seats, not the synthetic stuff found on most locally released Japanese cars.

Plus the inside is soo much roomier than the old ones, almost comparable to an Expedition (we have one).

The one I drove even had HID lights although MMC Phils. will probably not include it to keep costs down.

It is expensive for its class but IMHO I'd get one.

sa thursday makukuha ko na yung pajero ko. i got the diesel version (black) i had the chance to inspect it this morning, all i can say is it can go head to head against the new prado (we have one) anytime. the interior is sporty (parang suv na vr), nice stereo, good visibility from the drivers seat. sabi nga ng gf ko bagay daw sa mga binata yung look ng pajero unlike the prado na medyo executive and dating niya. sa thursday ko pa makukuha unit ko so guys wait for my full analysis.

e-modify mo lang ng kaunti pang off-road na ang dating nya,... change the wheels,.. etc...  its the most awaited vihicle,, ..its the most curved vihicle in the market-motortrend :D

The Patrol is a fullsize 4x4 in the tradition of the LC80.  Midsize ang Prado and Pajero.  The Patrol is also beefier with its solid axles on both ends.

Pero, magkalapit nga naman ang presyo.  hehehehe.  Dun na lang ako sa Patrol.  Hindi lang pang-porma, pang-trabaho pa.   ;)

Correct!! I agree with you!! the Patrol is the toughest car Japan could ever offer.......
