have not had a problem like that but your tranny might need a rebuild.

FJ:

I checked on a toyota repair manual and their analysis on this type of problem would be one of the following:

1.  Shift fork is worn out
2.  Shift key spring is damaged or has fallen out of place
3.  Synchronizer ring is worn or damaged

I doubt if it is the synchronizer because this would usually apply only to specific gears.  For example: It will shift into other gears except 3rd or 2nd, etc..

It could be the shift fork but this would also have the same symptoms as the worn synchro in that it will only affect a specific gear.

It is more likely that the shift key spring has dislodged or gotten worn.  That or a pin has dislodged and jammed the entire mechanism.  I would think that your problem is only isolated in the shift mechanism and not in the main tranny itself.  When you open it up, check to see if any retainer rings or pins may have dislodged causing lockup.  It is also possible that the ring holding the shift arm shoe could have come loose just after you left the vehicle in reverse when you parked it.  This will now disable any shifting duties.  Perhaps the slotted spring has released or a locking pin or ball has jammed the mechanism. from the fork . These can happen when the lock on the shift arm comes of and the mechanism slips and jams into a locked position.  These are the only things I can think of.  Wala naman kasi sa harap natin.

As for the T-case jumping into neutral, the same items should be checked but it is likely that the locking ball spring has jumped out of position or is completely worn.  Hope this helps
Everything we do on earth leaves a track....May they be one's we'd
