Dayun Dragon EX5 EV truck will be assembled in PH

Terrafirma Motors Corporation (TMC) is set to roll out electrified commercial vehicles soon.

The manufacturer has signed an agreement with Chengdu Dayun Automobile Co. Ltd. to assemble and distribute the latter's light trucks and commercial vehicles in the Philippine market.

Chengdu Dayun is China's 4th leading private automotive company that focuses on cost-effective green technology. As an initial product offering, TMC will have the Dayun Dragon EX5 – an electric-powered light truck that can be configured in several ways.

The Dayun Dragon EX5 has an 81.14 kWh lithium-ion phosphate battery powering an electric motor that has a maximum output of 187 PS and 360 Nm of torque. The light truck can reach up to 250 km of range on a single charge and has a 3,000 kg max-rated payload.

A prototype of the Dayun Dragon EX5 was unveiled after the ceremonial signing that was headed by TMC Chairman Bienvenido Santos and Chengdu Dayun Executive Vice General Manager Xie Ping.

“We are very proud to be partnering with the Chengdu Dayun group. With Terrafirma’s expertise in vehicle assembly, the Dragon EX5 is set to become a fixture on Philippine roads. Eventually, with the help of our local distribution partner Astara Philippines, this product will contribute to the vehicle modernization program as a champion of clean air technology. We look forward to contributing to a brighter, cleaner future for the Philippines with this partnership with Chengdu Dayun,” said Santos.
