Toyota Motor Philippines has set their sights on an entirely new market with the formal launch of the all-new Toyota Wigo in Cebu.

We initially reported that the car developed for the Indonesian Low Cost Green Car program was supposed to be launched last December, but it seems Toyota took a bit more time to get the model ready (not to mention change the name), the all-new Toyota Wigo has finally arrived. The Philippines is the first export customer for the Wigo from Indonesia, sharing the production line with the Toyota Agya and Daihatsu Ayla.

The stylish A segment hatchback, exported from the Daihatsu plant in Indonesia, measures in at 3,600mm long, 1,620mm wide and 1,520mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Seating is available for 5 people with ample space left for luggage in the back.

Powering the Wigo is a 1KR-FE engine, a 1.0 liter, three-cylinder, 12-valve EFI engine that makes 65 PS at 6000 rpm and 85 Newton-meters of torque. Customers can choose from a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Wigo may be targeted to compete in the entry level hatchback class (hence the touches to keep costs down, like the lift-type door handles and one-piece seat backrests), but it comes with features not normally expected in this category.

Standard for the Wigo 1.0G 5MT or 4AT is a Navi-ready 2-DIN entertainment system with DVD, iPod and USB playback with 4 speakers, a steering wheel that appears to have been lifted from the FJ Cruiser, a muti-info display, a keyless entry alarm system with an immobilizer, dual airbags and anti-lock brakes, among others. Electric power steering is standard along with power windows for all. The G has power mirrors too.

Toyota says that the more affordable Wigo 1.0E 5MT will be available come April.

The all-new Toyota Wigo is now in dealerships and can be had in Light Blue Metallic, Blue Metallic, Silver Metallic, White, Black and Grey Metallic.
