Suzuki has indeed launched an all-new variant of their compact MPV. Shortly following our previous report about Suzuki's plan to introduce hybrid power to their lineup, the automaker has officially revealed the Ertiga Diesel-Hybrid in Indonesia.

The new hybrid model is powered by a a 1.3-liter D13A DDiS turbo-diesel, along with Suzuki's Smart Hybrid Vehicle (SHVS). Instead of the traditional alternator, the diesel-hybrid Ertiga gets an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a larger 70Ah, 12V battery. This allows the Ertiga to have regenerative braking, automatic engine start/stop and torque assist when pulling away.

Total system output of the diesel-powered Ertiga is rated at 89 PS at 4000 rpm along with a hefty torque pull of 200 Nm at 1750 rpm. It is then mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. With SHVS in play, Suzuki claimed that the mild hybrid MPV is capable of averaging 22.6 km/l.

Exterior wise, the diesel-hybrid model relatively carries over the standard look of the non-hybrid versions. It is only differentiated from the rest with the 'Hybrid' badging.

In terms of amenities, the MPV does borrow some features from the top-of-the-range 1.4L automatic like the power folding side mirrors and manual dimming rearview mirror. Also making its way in the diesel-hybrid Ertiga is a new instrument panel that comes with an updated look and gear shift indicator.

Suzuki has no plans yet on introducing the Ertiga Diesel-Hybrid to other markets.
