911 Carrera T gets a lighter body and a 7-speed stick shift as standard
Porsche just recently unlocked another way to make their 911 go faster around a track, add loads of downforce to the GT3 RS. Now for those chasing lap times and breaking track records, the GT3 RS is indeed the car to get in the 911 lineup. But what about those who just want to experience raw, no-frills fun around the track in a stick shift 911?
Well, Porsche has one in store by bringing back the Carrera T for the 992 generation. Like the previous 991 launched in 2017, the new Carrera T serves as the stripped-down, stick-shift version of the base model Carrera. Combining the removal of the rear seats, sound deadening, and manual gearbox, the Carrera T shaves off 35 kg of excess fat, making it the lightest 911 in the base Carrera line.
For the exterior, the 911 Carrera T's side mirrors, door decals, and rear vertical cooling slats are finished in gray to distinguish it from the rest of the lineup. There is no fancy active aerodynamics here since it's designed to be a Touring version, hence the T nameplate.
The first thing you'll notice, of course, when you step inside the Carrera T is the stick shift, plus the standard four-way Sports Seats Plus. While the cabin is predominantly black, customers can opt for the Carrera T interior package to get either a Slate Gray or Lizard Green contrast stitching on the seats, floor mats, and seatbelts.
Putting emphasis on raw driving experience, the Carrera T is the only model in the base lineup that gets Porsche's Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Sport Chrono Package as standard, lowering the suspension by a further 10mm. In addition, customers can also opt for rear axle steering for an extra cost.
Like the standard 911 Carrera, the Carrera T is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine that puts out 385 PS and 450 Nm of torque. When paired with the 7-speed manual, 0 to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.5 seconds. The optional 8-speed PDK brings that down to 4.2 seconds, but of course, in a less engaging manner.
The 2023 911 Carrera T is now available to order. Customers can contact official Porsche dealerships in the Philippines for price inquiries. According to Porsche, the Carrera T will start rolling out in dealerships globally beginning February 2023.
