GAC Motor PH reveals 2023 EMPOW sports sedan
The Honda Civic and MG6’s newest rival is now in the country. GAC Motor PH has just revealed its new sports sedan. Meet the 2023 GAC EMPOW and it’s got the looks, the performance, and the technology to go up against rivals in the segment.
First previewed during the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, the 2023 EMPOW serves as the brand’s latest sedan that combines a turbocharged powertrain, sleek styling, and plenty of high-tech gadgetry.
Beginning with what’s under the hood, the sports sedan is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that’s coupled to a 7-speed wet-type dual-clutch transmission. The powertrain is rated to put out 168 PS along with 270 Nm of torque. With it, GAC claims that it can sprint from 0 - 100 km/h in only 6.95 seconds.
The all-new EMPOW looks lean and mean thanks to its unmistakable sporty design. The front fascia features an aggressive grille and bumper design that is complemented by sharp automatic LED headlights and vertical LED daytime running lights. Massive 18-inch alloy wheels fill up the sedan’s curvaceous wheel wells while the sloping roofline accentuates the EMPOW’s fastback-like profile. Last but not least, sleek wraparound LED taillights, quad exhausts, and a muscular rear bumper round out the sedan’s eye-catching exterior.
Open the doors and the EMPOW greets occupants with massive screens. The sleek instrument panel measures 7 inches while the touchscreen infotainment system has a 10.25-inch monitor. Apart from offering AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, and USB, the display also has Apple CarPlay. Sorry Android users, it doesn't come with Android Auto. The center console also features a simplistic design that further highlights the vehicle’s sporty nature.
Other features available inside the EMPOW include a full-leather interior, a leather-wrapped steering wheel complete with paddle shifters, dual-zone automatic climate control, a push-button start, a two-tone colorway, multiple USB charging ports, and a power-adjustable driver's seat.
When it comes to safety, GAC says the EMPOW is available with six airbags, as well as a tire pressure monitoring system. For extra peace of mind, a suite of advanced driver assist systems is also available in the new EMPOW. These include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, autonomous emergency braking, traffic jam assist, and high-beam assist.

Available colors for GAC's new sports sedan include; Elegant Black, Ivory White, Moonlight Gray, and Matte Fighter Green which is exclusive only to the range-topping GE.
The EMPOW is available in 3 distinct variants and is selling at special introductory prices that are valid unit March 31, 2023.
