Black Edition priced identically to standard BT-50 4x2

Mazda Philippines wants you to embrace the beauty of black accents without the added premium, as they have quietly launched the BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition.

Priced identically to the standard BT-50 4x2 AT variant at PHP 1,430,000, the Black Edition kit comes as a factory-installed, no-cost option for the first 50 customers.

The BT-50 4x2 Black Edition looks exactly the same as the standard BT-50, which is infused with Mazda’s KODO: Soul of Motion design. However, the distinctive grille is now finished in high-gloss black, coupled by new 17-inch alloys that are likewise painted in gloss black.

As with the standard BT-50 4x2, the Black Edition's exterior appointments include 255/65 R17 highway-terrain tires, LED headlights, power-folding side mirrors, side step boards, a bedliner and a new tailgate assist for easier loading and unloading of cargo.

Inside, the BT-50 4x2 Black Edition sets itself apart from the standard 4x2 variant, as it is fitted with a black leather-wrapped steering wheel and armrest, as well as bespoke black leather seats with gray accents and contrast stitching. Furthermore, the “Black Edition” logos are debossed on the front headrests.

In terms of interior equipment, the BT-50 4x2 Black Edition has rear A/C vents, touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a six-speaker system, and remote engine start in its list.

Powering the BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is the familiar 3.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo diesel that puts out 190 PS at 3,600 rpm and 450 Nm of torque from 1,600-2,600 rpm. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. Mazda says the BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition has a 3,500-kilogram towing capacity and 1,000-kilogram payload capacity. Water wading is at a class-leading 800 mm.

For safety, it has dual SRS airbags, anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control with traction control, hill start assist, and hill descent control. Meanwhile, for added confidence during parking, it comes equipped with a reverse parking camera with backup sensors.

The BT-50 4x2 AT Black Edition is available in six colors: Ice White, Ingot Silver Metallic, Concrete Gray Mica, Rock Gray Mica, Red Volcano Mica, and Gun Blue Mica. Like every other brand-new Mazda, it offers a 5-year Free Service Plan which covers the expenses of periodic maintenance at either 6-month or 10,000-kilometer intervals, for up to 5 years or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. This is on top of a 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty.
