Has over 1000 HP and 505 km of range
We're starting to lose count of all the boxy off-road SUVs coming from China, as they keep rolling out left and right. Speaking of which, here's another one we just saw at 2023 Auto Shanghai.
This is the Dongfeng M-Hero 917. And while it looks ready to be deployed at Operation Desert Storm, this particular EV is designed to take you even to the longest overlanding trips.
The aggressive styling of the M-Hero 917 is something we've never quite seen before. And if we're being honest, this would likely be the look of a top-spec gaming laptop from Alienware or ROG if it transformed to a vehicle. Speaking of the gaming laptop reference, it also has impressive performance to go along with its look.
It is powered by four electric motors that produce a combined 1,088 horsepower and 1,400 Nm of torque, and it has a huge 140 kWh battery that gives a range of up to 505 kilometers.
The M-Hero 917 also has another version with three electric motors and a 1.5-liter turbo as a generator. That particular variant makes a more modest 816 PS and 1050 Nm. With a 66 kWh battery and the generator on board, the M-Hero 917 gets a mixed range of 800 km.
Currently, Dongfeng is only rolling out commercial trucks in the country. But as we've seen from MIAS, a lot of new Chinese brands are entering the market so anything can still happen. Would it be a good idea for Dongfeng to offer the M-Hero 917 here? Let us know in the comments.
