2025 BYD Shark 6 covered 1,114.3 km without refueling, recharging
The BYD Shark 6 can travel more than the manufacturer's claim of 800 km

BYD Cars Philippines continues to prove that its innovative plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system allows vehicles to produce fewer emissions, travel longer distances, and use electric power to save on fuel.
ACMobility officially launched the all-new 2025 Shark 6 PHEV pickup with a starting price of PHP 2.098 million last week. It’s set to shake up the pickup truck market and prove that workhorses need not just be a utilitarian vehicle. It’s powered by two electric motors that crank out a combined 435 PS and 650 Nm of torque and is powered by a 29.58 kWh lithium-iron phosphate battery.

On a full charge, BYD says the Shark 6 can travel up to 100 km on electric power alone. But thanks to a 1.5L engine that serves as a range extender, the electrified pickup has a combined range of up to 800 km. Impressive, but BYD Cars Philippines believes the pickup truck can do more than what is stated on the brochure.
Like the Sealion 6 and Seal 5, the automaker decided to find out how much distance the Shark 6 could cover on one full tank of gas and a fully charged battery. Together with the supervision of the Automobile Associate of the Philippines (AAP) and a pair of Shark 6 pickups driven by veteran race car drivers Georges & Louie Ramirez, the brand set out to see just how far the Shark 6 can travel without having to refuel or recharge.

After traveling from Metro Manila to La Union, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, and back to the metro, the Shark 6 was able to best the manufacturer’s claim of 800 km after the Ramirez brothers were able to rack up a total of 1,114.3 km. That means the Shark 6 will be able to cover more distances compared to traditional ICE-powered pickup trucks.
With the ability to travel on electric power over certain distances without having to deal with range anxiety, the BYD Shark 6 has put every automaker that sells a pickup truck in the country on notice.
