Aside from the 1500 REV, Ram now also offers the Ramcharger
Ram has been pretty busy lately when it revealed the 2025 1500 pickup truck. Not only did the vehicle receive a modest facelift inside and out, but Ram swapped the already powerful HEMI V8 for an even more powerful twin-turbo inline-six which cranks out up to 548 PS and over 700 Nm of torque.
But that wasn't the only pickup truck Ram revealed as of late. Unveiled alongside the twin-turbo-powered 1500 is the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. No, it's not related to the Dodge Charger (or a certain Donut Media meme), but it does have a twin-motor system which makes it quite the powerful electric pickup truck.
The Ramcharger has a 92 kWh battery pack which supplies power to a pair of electric motors that provides AWD capability. The result is a total system output of 672 PS along with a generous 883 Nm of torque. This allows the electric pickup to sprint from 0 – 97 km/h in a brisk 4.4 seconds despite its hefty weight.
Based on its output and performance figures alone, the Ramcharger is no slouch. But with only a 92 kWh battery pack, that doesn't exactly translate to long-range driving. Heck, the Ramcharger's sibling the 1500 REV is available with a colossal 168 or 229 kWh battery pack which gives that electric pickup between 563 km to 805 km on a full charge. The Ramcharger's battery only translates to around 200 km at best.
But here's the secret sauce of the 1500 Ramcharger, it has a range extender in the form of the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6. That's right, the Ramcharger may have a small battery pack but it gets a helping hand from internal combustion.
According to the automaker, this gives the Ramcharger a targeted range of up to 1,110 km – beating the battery-only REV by several hundred kilometers. The addition of the engine not only helps in recharging the battery but also provides faster acceleration when under load or during overtaking. More importantly, the Ramcharger is not tethered to any charging station as drivers can just fill up on gasoline at any filling station. Should you prefer to charge the battery alone, the pickup also supports DC fast charging which can recharge the Ramcharger with 80 km in only 10 minutes.
Need to power a worksite, a tailgate party, or your home during a blackout? Like the 1500 REV, the Ramcharger comes with bi-directional charging and an onboard power system which can provide up to 7.2 kW of electricity.
With the Ram 1500 Ramcharger, customers will have a choice between a pure electric pickup truck or a series hybrid workhorse complete with a range extender. The only question now is, could we see the 1500 REV or 1500 Ramcharger make its way to the Philippines in the future?
