BMW Philippines reveals teaser of what could be the next-gen 5 Series
BMW distributor SMC Asia Cars Distributors Corp. greeted 2024 with the launch of the i4 EV. With that, the German automaker now has the i7, i4, iX, and iX3 as its all-electric vehicle lineup. However, it looks like the brand is out to launch yet another vehicle, and it will be revealed this February.
The automaker recently sent us an invite for an upcoming launch of a new vehicle. They didn't say the exact model or name besides a teaser photo that came with the invite itself. Judging from the image they sent, it looks like the BMW is preparing to reveal the 8th generation 5 Series soon.
Looking at the distinct front fascia design of the teaser vehicle shown, it seems to match the design of the next-generation 5 Series codenamed G60. From the large dual kidney grille to the eye-catching LED light signatures and the long hood, it appears BMW Philippines is dead set to reveal the new executive sedan very soon.
No specifications were revealed by the automaker. However, the all-new 5 Series could be powered by either a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-four dubbed the 530i or a 3.0-liter TwinPower Turbo inline-six dubbed the 540i xDrive. The 530i could come with 259 PS and 400 Nm of torque while the 540i xDrive may produce 380 PS and 520 Nm of torque.
As for the i5, the all-electric 5 Series may only be offered with the eDrive40 drivetrain. It's powered by a single electric motor that drives the rear wheels and is paired with an 84.3 kWh battery pack. It generates 340 PS with 430 Nm of torque and has an estimated cruising range of up to 582 km based on the WLTP cycle.
We'll keep an eye out for any possible information about BMW's upcoming launch in the coming weeks.
