She then posted an update, "4 people have been rescued and brought to the hospital. Please stay away from the bridge or don’t go anywhere near it!!! Please!.”
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Pangasinan Fourth District Engineering Office has shut down the entire stretch of the Carlos P. Romulo Bridge. Authorities as still working to determine the cause of the collapse, but Mayor Jose-Quiambao has indicated that the overloaded trucks may have compromised the bridge's integrity.
Motorists in the area are advised to take the Bocboc Bridge. A footbridge will be built within the next two weeks so that people may walk to and from the different barangays in the area. The local government unit has arranged free transportation for students, workers, and commuters.
