Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc has spilled the beans for the all-new Stargazer
A few months ago, Hyundai officially launched its compact 7-seater MPV for the Indonesian market. It has set its sights on other MPV stalwarts in the market like the Toyota Avanza, Suzuki Ertiga, as well as Mitsubishi Xpander.
At the time of its release, it was only available for the Indonesian market. However, Hyundai Motor Philippines Inc (HMPH) has just spilled the beans. That’s right, the all-new Stargazer will be coming to the Philippines real soon.
This was confirmed by the automaker when it formally launched its new model lineup which consists of the all-new Creta, Tucson, Staria, and the facelifted Santa Fe. HMPH did not reveal when the Stargazer will actually arrive in the country. They did mention, however, that it’s coming real soon and it will be joining the MPV party in the Philippines.
Official PH specifications for the all-new Stargazer are not yet available. But a quick look at what the Indonesian market gets and we now have a good idea as to what HMPH might bring.
For starters, the Stargazer for Indonesia comes with a 1.5-liter MPI four-cylinder engine that’s mated to an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT) or a 6-speed manual gearbox. It makes 115 PS at 6300 rpm along with 144 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. If those figures look familiar, that’s because it’s the same engine that’s driving the PH-spec Creta.
When it comes to its dimensions, the Stargazer measures 4460mm long, 1780mm wide, and 1690mm tall. It also has a generous 2780mm wheelbase which makes for a very spacious cabin. Cargo space for the Stargazer comes in at 585 liters with the third-row folded. However, with the third-row seats deployed, that goes down to just 200 liters.
As far as cabin amenities are concerned, the Stargazer has plenty on offer. These include LED ambient lighting, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, push-button start, automatic climate control, 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a wireless smartphone charger, LED headlights, and a suite of intelligent safety systems.
With the Stargazer already confirmed for the PH market, the 7-seater compact MPV market is about to get more interesting.
