DPWH Sec. Dizon: Road reblocking activities suspended indefinitely
A new Department Order is on the way that would demand justification and transparency for road re-blocking projects

How many times have you seen a perfectly good road being torn down by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) or its contractors? For us at Autoindustriya.com, it’s far too many to count.
With ongoing controversies surrounding the agency’s multitrillion-peso flood control projects, where allegations of corruption continue to surface, it’s not hard to suspect that these frequent “road re-blocking” works could be another avenue for misuse of public funds.
Now, Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon has had enough and says that he is suspending these activities indefinitely.

“Bakit ba ang DPWH binabakbak ang mga kalye na parang ok naman para lang gawin ulit?... Gagawa ako ng bagong department order on reblocking,” said Sec. Dizon.
(Why is the DPWH tearing up roads that are perfectly fine, just to do it again?... I will issue a new department order on reblocking.)
“Well, siguro, sa maraming pagkakataon, alam na natin kung bakit: kasi, pinagkakakitaan lang yun,” added Sec. Dizon.
(Well, maybe, in many cases, we already know why: because it's just about money-making schemes.)
According to Dizon, a new Department Order is in the works that will mandate clear justification for every approved road re-blocking project and promote full transparency for taxpayers to monitor where their money goes.
