Ford Philippines is no longer just offering pick-up trucks, SUVs, crossovers, and muscle cars. The Blue Oval brand is now also offering people carriers once more in the form of the all-new 2020 Transit.
This Philippine-market Transit succeeds the E-150 series of passenger vans from Ford, and serves as one of Ford's biggest and most intelligent vehicles in the country. The Transit they are offering is capable of seating 15 passengers in comfort. Measuring 5981 mm long, 2474mm mm wide and 2517 mm tall, Ford’s new people carrier is quite huge.
Further complementing the Transit's huge size is its bold front fascia. Large halogen reflector headlights dominate the front end and is accompanied by an equally massive three-bar style front grill. The 2020 Transit also comes with daytime running lights, black-painted bumpers and side moldings, as well as an integrated stepboard on the rear bumper for easier access at the back.
Thanks to its huge size, the inside of the Transit offers acres of space. With a tall roof and a wide cabin, getting in and out of the van is easy. It even has a a power side step which can help small children and the elderly during ingress / egress. Need to charge your devices? The Transit has multiple power sockets that can recharge your phones and other gadgets. 21 stowage bins, along with 12 cup holders means there are plenty of storage areas for the 15 passengers inside the Transit. Infotainment comes in the form of SYNC which supports AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, Aux, as well as USB.
Under the hood, the Ford Transit is powered by a 2.2-liter Duratorq four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. It produces 135 PS along with 385 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.
As far as safety features are concerned, the Transit comes loaded. It has anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, three-point seatbelts for all passengers, and an escape hatch for emergency situations. Other available features inside the 2020 Transit include: power-folding side mirrors, rearview camera, and rear cargo doors with 180-degree opening capacity.
“Given its global success in boosting productivity for businesses, we at Ford are excited to bring the all-new Transit with the continued growth of the light commercial bus and van segment (LCBV) in the Philippines. The all-new Transit offers unique appeal to businesses and relevant sectors and is poised to help drive productivity and business growth,” said PK Umashankar, Managing Director of Ford Philippines.
The Turkish-made Ford Transit is available in three colors (Frozen White, Moondust Silver, and Magnetic Metallic), and is now available at all Ford dealerships nationwide with a sticker price of Php 2,300,000. In addition, Ford will also be providing new customers of the Transit with a 5-year scheduled service maintenance.
