All-new Honda Elevate for India will be a City-based SUV

When it comes to crossover SUVs, Honda has a wide selection worldwide. In the Philippines, there is the BR-V, HR-V, and the CR-V. Across the pond in the United States, the automaker has the USDM HR-V (also called ZR-V in China), the Passport, and the Pilot.

Elsewhere around the world, Indonesia gets the WR-V while China gets a range of electric crossovers that are part of the e:N family of vehicles. Over in India, however, they only have the City and the Brio Amaze sedan. With the market going towards crossover SUVs, Honda India needs a high-riding vehicle that can compete with its closest rivals.

Instead of bringing one or two of its crossover SUVs to India, Honda decided to make an entirely new model, and here is a teaser image of what it will look like. Say hello to the Elevate. Set to make its global debut on June 6, 2023, it will serve as Honda India's SUV that could take on other B-segment crossovers.

No exact details have been revealed yet by Honda. However, a report by Autocar India said that it could measure between 4.2 to 4.3 meters. More importantly, the Honda Elevate will supposedly share its platform with the City. As far as engines are concerned, the Honda Elevate will likely make use of a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated i-VTEC engine that's also used in the City. That means we can expect a power output of around 121 PS and 145 Nm of torque with a CVT or 6-speed manual transmission.

Since the Indian market doesn't get the HR-V, CR-V, or BR-V, the Elevate will be Honda's premiere crossover SUV offering in the B-segment market. But don't expect it to be offered only in India as the automaker has plans to sell it in other markets as well.

Does this mean we'll see it in other Asia countries in the not-so-distant future? That we'll have to find out.
