Is Mitsubishi launching an Xpander-based B-SUV?
Mitsubishi reportedly working on new concept car to enter the competitive B-SUV segment

Mitsubishi's latest concept car could possibly shake up the competitive B-segment crossover market, especially in the ASEAN region.
Set to have its global debut on October 19, the Japanese manufacturer only named the upcoming model a “new concept car” on their official website in Vietnam. While the teaser image did not reveal much about the vehicle, Mitsubishi has reportedly sent out invites about the new model being a “Small SUV Concept”.

Other details about the new model are scarce for the time being. But if we're right about this one, Mitsubishi may be looking at entering the B-segment crossover market with its new concept car. With the segment growing strongly in recent years, Mitsubishi could have its eyes set on bringing the fight to the likes of Nissan's Kicks e-Power, Honda HR-V, and the Hyundai Creta.
In addition, Mitsubishi may also be banking on the success of an ASEAN market model for their new crossover. Reports suggest the B-SUV will share a lot of its components with the Xpander MPV and may serve as its shorter and sportier five-seat version.
It's also worth noting that Mitsubishi chose Vietnam for the global reveal of the new concept car. For those who may not know, the Xpander is being made in Vietnam and enjoys just as much success there as it is here in the Philippines.
Fortunately for us, we won't have to speculate too long about the new model. After it makes its global debut on October 19, the Mitsubishi concept car will be displayed at the 2022 Vietnam Motor Show which will take place from October 26 to 30, 2022.
