Is the MG Gloster SUV finally on its way to PH?
It seems MG Philippines is set to join the PPV market

If there’s one segment MG Philippines has yet to tap into, it’s the pickup platform vehicle (PPV) market. Yes, they already have a wide array of crossovers in their lineup along with a couple of EVs and a hatchback, but if the brand wants to attract customers that prefer big SUVs, they need to introduce the likes of the Gloster.
Also called the Maxus D90 in other markets, the MG Gloster serves as the brand’s PPV and it’s based on the Maxus T60 and MG Extender pickup truck platform. It comes with three rows of seats with a 2+3+2 seating layout, a turbo-diesel engine, and a spacious cabin complete with countless amenities. Clearly, the MG Gloster/D90 would make perfect sense in the Philippines and MG could launch it here soon.
We already received word from before that it will be making its way here although that was nearly 3 years ago. Now, there has been a new development about its possible arrival in the country.

Recently, we got hold of information that MG Philippines received regulatory approval for an upcoming passenger vehicle with a diesel-powered 1996cc engine. It also has a reference weight of 2550 kg which makes it quite a heavy vehicle. After cross-checking the numbers and doing some research, it looks like the MG Gloster will be making its Philippine debut soon.
In other markets, the Gloster is powered by a 2.0L turbo-diesel engine that has an exact displacement of 1996cc. It’s available with a single turbo which makes a respectable 163 PS and 375 Nm of torque. However, it’s more likely MG Philippines will bring the twin-turbo version which generates 218 PS and 480 Nm of pull. Depending on the variant, the Gloster’s turbo-diesel can be mated to either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
With MG Philippines looking to join the PPV market with the Gloster/D90, it could disrupt the likes of the Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Nissan Terra, and Toyota Fortuner.
