The local pickup truck scene is showing no signs of slowing down and Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) thought now is the right time to introduce a refreshed D-Max. Say hello to the 2019 D-Max LS-A, a stylish and more rugged-looking version of the 3.0-liter variant of the pickup truck.
So how does the D-Max LS-A differ from the old LS? Well for starters, the refreshed pickup truck gets a more imposing front end courtesy of a new front grill and bumper design. The former now comes in a gray finish and has a bigger and wider opening. The latter, on the other hand, gets a unique bumper guard complete with a steel skid plate. 4x4 models even get a transfer case protector for added protection.
Other exterior upgrades Isuzu made to the D-Max LS-A include matte-finished lip moldings on the fenders, stylish two-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, cargo bed extenders, additional plastic moldings below the doors, and the gray-colored side mirror caps and roof rails.
Size-wise, the new LS-A is slightly longer and taller than the previous LS. It measures 5345mm long (+50mm) and now stands at 1860mm tall (+65mm). Width remains the same, however at 1860mm wide. And, thanks to the cargo bed extender, the bed now measures 558mm tall. Length and width remain at 1485mm long and 1530mm wide, however.
If the exterior received a noticeable redesign, the interior of the D-Max LS-A still relatively looks the same as before. From the distinct automatic climate control system to the 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, as well as the leather upholstery on the seats and steering wheel with audio controls, the LS-A retains the familiar and ergonomic cabin design of the previous D-Max.
In-car features like AM/FM radio, Aux, Bluetooth, USB, CD/DVD, Wi-Fi, and iPod are also available in the 2019 D-Max LS-A.
Under the hood, the D-Max LS-A is powered by the familiar 3.0-liter, four-cylinder 4JJ1-TCX turbo-diesel with BluePower technology. It generates 177 PS at 3600 rpm along with 380 Nm of torque from 1800 - 2800 rpm.
A choice of either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmissions are available for the 2019 D-Max LS-A. It's available in both 4x2 and 4x4 offerings.
Standard safety features on the 3.0-liter LS-A include: keyless passive entry, dual airbags, ISOFIX anchors for child seats, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution and brake assist, traction and stability controls, hill-start assist, hill-descent control, and a reverse camera with parking sensors.
