LEAKED: Are you the all-new Mazda CX-5?
The 2026 Mazda CX-5 is set to be launched nearly a decade after the outgoing model first came out

It appears that Mazda's next-generation compact crossover has been leaked ahead of its global debut. This comes after an image of what seems to be the latest generation CX-5 made its way to the internet.
Aside from the obvious vanity plate on the front, the proportions and looks of the Mazda crossover echo those of the outgoing CX-5. However, the latest version appears to have some new bodywork, a redesigned grille, and a new set of LED headlights that give the CX-5 a whole new look.
Starting with the most obvious first, the headlights have been totally changed as they now curve towards the redesigned grille. Also present are new chrome accents on the grille and a redesigned front bumper with new lower air intakes. As before, black body cladding is present throughout the vehicle, although more than likely this will only be available on certain variants as high-grade models get body-painted cladding. Last but not least are the new alloy wheels painted black.

There are no images of the CX-5's newly designed rear, although we won't be surprised if Mazda was also busy giving it a makeover. Based on several sightings, however, the all-new CX-5 will supposedly get thinner LED taillights but will not reportedly share the same look as the CX-60 and CX-90.
Powertrain-wise, the next-generation CX-5 will be available with a hybrid engine, which Mazda has already confirmed a few months ago. It will come with the new SkyActiv-Z gasoline engine and a hybrid system that's built in-house. However, it will make its way to the crossover sometime in 2027, which likely means the internal combustion (ICE) versions will be unveiled first before the electrified variant.
Since the second-generation Mazda CX-5 first came out all the way back in 2016, the compact crossover is overdue for a full model change. Hopefully, we won't have to wait long for the vehicle's big debut.
