Lexus PH launching electric 2023 RZ next week
Lexus PH's shift towards an electric future begins with the upcoming RZ

Back in August 2022, Toyota Motor Philippines Chairman Alfred Ty announced that they will be launching two new electric vehicles (EVs) – the Toyota bZ4X and the Lexus RZ. This news marked the automaker's plan to bring its own EVs to the local market after Nissan's Leaf EV.
Fast forward to the present day, and Lexus Philippines is set to launch the RZ EV next week. That's right, after nearly a year, the luxury marque's first-ever electric vehicle will be making its Philippine debut on May 2, 2023.

Official specifications for the local-spec Lexus RZ are not yet available. But based on international versions, we already have an idea of what to expect next week once it's revealed. For starters, it's more powerful than the bZ4X as it gets a pair of electric motors, a 71.4-kWh battery pack, and an AWD system called Direct4.

It has a total system output of 312 PS along with 435 Nm of torque. Compared to the bZ4X, the RZ generates an additional 97 PS and 99 Nm of pull. Based on the J-WLTC cycle, Lexus claims the RZ can cover 450 km on a single charge.
Inside, the RZ's interior features a driver-centric cabin with some styling elements borrowed from the all-new NX. That means the touchscreen and the dashboard/center console buttons are directed toward the driver for easier manipulation. Not only that, but customers can also opt to get a steering yoke instead of a traditional steering wheel for a more futuristic look and feel.

Other details regarding the all-new Lexus RZ are not yet available. However, we'll be keeping a close eye on possible leaks (and pricing) should they become available.
