LTO apprehends nearly 19K unregistered vehicles during May ops
18,934 unregistered vehicles to be exact

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has reported the apprehension of 18,934 unregistered motor vehicles during its operations in May. This intensified campaign aims to compel motorists with expired registrations to renew them, aligning with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure road safety.
LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor Mendoza II specified that the majority of those apprehended during the month-long operation were motorcycles, numbering 12,206, and tricycles, with 3,105 apprehensions.
Mendoza also emphasized the continued aggressive nature of the agency’s campaign, stating its persistence until all motor vehicles comply with their registration obligations, which he noted is crucial for verifying roadworthiness.

The operations also resulted in the apprehension of at least 1,800 vans and over 1,000 private vehicles. The remaining apprehensions involved passenger jeepneys, buses, and trucks.
Based on data, LTO-Region 4A again recorded the highest number of apprehensions with 9,906, followed by LTO Region 4B and LTO-Region 2.
The LTO has been conducting these operations against unregistered motor vehicles in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and other law enforcement agencies.
Mendoza urged motor vehicle owners to register their vehicles to avoid the PHP 10,000 penalty associated with driving an unregistered motor vehicle. He stressed that registration is not only an obligation, but also a responsibility for the safety of the vehicle/motorcycle owners and their families.
