A new batch of police patrol cars will soon be prowling the city of Marikina. This comes after the Shoe Capital of the Philippines recently announced that the Marikina Police will be provided with new patrol vehicles from MG to further strengthen and expand police visibility.

Mayor Marcy Teodoro gladly announced that nine police community precincts (PCPs) in the city will benefit from the new vehicles. This is in addition to Marikina Police's current mobile patrol cars that they use to maintain peace and security in the city.

“Ang suporta namin sa pulis ay hindi lang pisikal o materyal, more importantly, we treat them as brothers and sisters,” [Our support for the police is not just phyical or material, more importantly, we treat them as brothers and sisters] said Teodoro.

The procurement of the new patrol vehicles was made during the visit of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) last February 12, 2020. Present during the event were Police Major General Debold Sinas, and Mayor Marcy Teodoro himself. Teodoro drove one of the MG patrol cars alongside Sinas as they went around city hall for a brief drive to get a feel for the car.

In a statement, Police Major General Sinas said that Marikina City is often considered a national model when it comes to maintaining good relations with the local government of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

“Ang dami na naming programa na ang palaging gingamit na template ay itong Marikina kasi noon pa man ay naitatag na,” [The only program that we have ever used in this template is Marikina because it has already been established] said Sinas.

With the city's current crime rate efficiency index at 73% and crime rates down to 94%, along with strong support from the NCRPO and local police, the new MG patrol vehicles will surely help in maintaining the peace and order in Marikina.
