Mazda distributor Bermaz Auto Philippines is looking to offer a broader and more premium lineup of cars for 2022. To make it happen, Mazda recently revealed its 2022 premium collection that consists of the upgraded Mazda2, CX-30, and new M Hybrid-powered Mazda3.
Starting with the smallest offering, the Mazda2 is now only available in one variant, the 1.5L Sport. It now comes with LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and 16-inch black alloy wheels. There's also a new paint called Platinum Quartz Metallic which is seen in the pictures.
The interior, meanwhile, gets a new two-tone black and blue leather seats, smart keyless entry, a wireless phone charger, wireless Apple CarPlay, and even a heads-up display.
Powering the Mazda2 is the carried-over 1.5-liter inline-four SkyActiv-G. It puts out 110 PS with 141 Nm of torque and is connected to a six-speed automatic gearbox. For added safety, the refreshed hatchback gets six airbags and a wide array of i-Activsense features like autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver attention alert.
Next is the 2022 CX-3 which is now just available in two variants; 2.0L Sport and 2.0L Elegance. Both versions come with the same level of features - LED headlights and LED DRLs, keyless entry, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a 7-speaker Bose sound system. Where they differ, however, is in exterior and interior aesthetics.
The Sport gets a gray-finished grille while the Elegance is fitted with a gloss-black grille. Meanwhile, the side mirror caps are painted black on the Elegance and are body-colored on the Sport. Both models also get their own 16-inch alloy wheel design. Last but not least, the Sport gets black leather seats while the Elegance has white leather upholstery.
Both versions are powered by a 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder engine. It puts out 150 PS with 195 Nm of torque and is coupled to a six-speed automatic transmission.
For the first time in the Philippines, Mazda is now offering mild-hybrid models in the form of the 2022 Mazda3. Called the M Hybrid system, it's a significant improvement over the i-eloop system found in the Mazda3, Mazda6, and MX-5. It makes use of a DC/DC converter, an Integrated Starter Generator (ISG), and a Regenerative Friction Brake Coordination system with a new 24-volt M Hybrid Lithium-Ion battery.
The result is improved power output from the 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G engine. It now produces 164 PS (+9 PS) and 213 Nm of torque (+13Nm) which Mazda says will translate to improved fuel economy and more dynamic power delivery.
The new M Hybrid system is available in both the Sedan and Fastback body styles. But for that prefer a naturally-aspirated engine, the 2.0-liter SkyActiv-G is still available and continues to generate 155 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Gone, however, is the 1.5-liter SkyActiv-G as all Mazda3 models now come with a 2.0-liter engine.
Available features on the 2022 Mazda3 include a 12-speaker Bose sound system, LED adaptive headlights, a 360-degree camera system, full-leather upholstery, 18-inch alloy wheels, and the intelligent i-Activsense safety suite.
