MMDA, DOTr, QC to build more bike lanes and PUV stops
QC gov't to give full support in the making of more PUV stops and bicycle lanes in the city

Commuters that frequently ride PUVs and cyclists who pedal their way to work will be happy to know there will be more PUV stops and bicycle lanes in the metro. This comes after the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), the Department of Transportation (DOTr), and the Quezon City (QC) government stated that they will build more of the aforementioned infrastructures.
In a recent announcement, the DOTr said that additional bike lanes and PUV stops for public utility buses (PUBs) and jeepneys will be constructed at Elliptical Road and Commonwealth Avenue as part of the Active Transport and Public Transport Infrastructure Improvement Project.
For the agency, the new bike lanes and additional PUV stops will ensure cyclists can safely travel to their destinations while at the same time maintaining the flow of traffic by other motorists that are using the road. Meanwhile, the QC government has offered its full support to the project while the MMDA will conduct a formal dry run to study the traffic condition that the project may bring about.

“[Ito ay] para masiguro ang kaligtasan ng mga siklistang bumabaybay sa mga naturang lugar, at masiguro ang maayos na lagay ng trapiko sa kabila ng implementasyon ng programa,” the DOTr shared in a statement.
[This is to ensure the safety of cyclists in the area and to maintain a smooth flow of traffic through the implementation of the program]
With more bicycle lanes set to be put up, this will help cyclists that need to get to their destinations safer and hassle-free. Hopefully, the MMDA ensures that motorcycle riders (as well as drivers) don't use the bike lanes for their own gain as these lanes are only reserved for bicycles.
