MMDA to close major Metro Manila roads for Film Fest Parade of Stars
Road closures start at 12:01 PM on December 19

Christmas is a season of joy for millions of Filipinos. For motorists, however, it also means spending long hours stuck in traffic, which often leads to frayed nerves and, at times, road rage. With this in mind, drivers are reminded to bring an extra dose of patience with them as they navigate the busy streets of Metro Manila during the holiday rush.
This coming Friday, December 19, motorists are advised to pack not just double, but triple their usual dose of patience, as the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will close several major roads to make way for the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) Parade of Stars.
Traffic adjustments will be implemented from 12:01 PM to 10:00 p.m. along Macapagal Boulevard, Senator Gil Puyat Avenue, Ayala Avenue, Makati Avenue, J.P. Rizal Street, and AP Reyes Avenue. Motorists should expect intermittent stoppages on selected lanes to allow the parade convoy to pass, after which traffic flow will be immediately restored.

Makati City will serve as the host for this year’s Parade of Stars, an event expected to draw large crowds eager to catch a glimpse of their favorite celebrities aboard elaborately decorated floats representing each MMFF movie entry.
Movie-themed floats, event tents, the holding area, and the main stage will occupy the northbound lanes of Macapagal Boulevard, while spectators at the parade’s starting point will be accommodated along the southbound side.
To manage traffic and ensure public safety, the MMDA will deploy at least 1,000 personnel, including traffic enforcers, motorcycle and mobile patrol units, towing and impounding teams, the Road Emergency Group, Public Safety Division, Metro Parkways Clearing Group, and the Traffic Engineering Center.
Motorists are advised by the MMDA to plan their trips ahead of time and take alternate routes to avoid delays. Or better yet, postpone your trip entirely when possible.
