The Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Landaulet has officially been released after photos of it began circulating last week. With the official release, more details of the supposed last iteration of the W463 G-Wagen has been unveiled by Mercedes-Benz.
After nearly 40 years of production, the current generation W463 G-Wagen is set to be retired with the next gen replacement already spied testing. To give the long running G-Wagen a proper send off, Mercedes-Maybach gives it a landaulet treatment.

As speculated from the leaked photos, the G650 Landaulet will be powered by a 6.0-liter bi-turbo V12 tuned by AMG. It produces 630 PS with peak torque at 1000 Nm. It is also based of the G 500 4x42 and the AMG G 63 6x6, both of which features portal axles which provide ample ground clearance allowing it to overcome even the most extremes of terrain.

325 / 55 R22 size tires make the ideal base for handling both on-road and off-road. Differential locks also come as standard which can be engaged on the move and is combined with 4WD technology unique to its off-road segment. This makes the G 650 Landaulet stand out from other 4x4 vehicles.

Inside the G650, passengers are welcomed by a two tone interior and high grade upholstery in diamond stitching. The rear seats are taken from an S-Class Mercedes, giving passengers a first-class feel in comfort and space. A individual entertainment system keeps each passenger amused if the open skies fail to provide any.

Production is set to be limited to 99 units, which will start sales in Autumn. Pricing is yet to be announced but officials say it is to top that of the G 63 6x6. The open top G-Wagen will celebrate its world premiere and sales release at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2017.
