Php 175 million, can buy you a lot of things – a nice house, a couple of cars, and even membership to some of the country's finest resorts and clubs for the weekends. If you happen to be very opulent, however, you can also choose to spend it all for one car, specifically, the new Pagani Huayra Roadster BC.
Simply put, the new Huayra Roadster BC is a topless version of the Huayra BC launched back in 2016. However, Pagani says that it is not a simple as chopping off the roof and calling it a day. Instead, the engineers reworked the Huayra's entire design, structure, as well as its performance to give the driver and passenger a whole new experience.
At the heart of Huayra Roadster BC is the same 6.0-liter twin-turbo AMG V12 in the coupe. However, the engine is supposedly a 'bespoke unit' with power bumped up to 800 PS and 1050 Nm of torque. For reference, the previous Huayra BC only produced 750 PS and 1000 Nm. All the extra power is then sent to the rear wheels via an Xtrac 7-speed sequential gearbox with a new lightweight single clutch. A new titanium exhaust helps keep the weight down and also makes it sound a lot better.
The extra power was needed to make up for the added weight. Roadsters typically weigh more compared to their hardtop counterparts and it is the same story with the Roadster BC. Even with extensive use of lightweight parts, the Roadster BC still weighs 1,250 kg, around 32 kg heavier than the BC coupe. However, it is still significantly lighter than both the regular Huayra and Huayra Roadster.
Aside from going fast in a straight line, the Roadster BC is made to handle corners as well thanks to the new suspension setup. It also sits on new lightweight wheels wrapped in sticky Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tires. There's also new aero which allows it to generate around 1,000 kg of downforce when driving on the limit. According to Pagani, the Roadster BC can generate up to 1.9Gs of force in cornering and peak at around 2.2g.
Only 40 examples of the Pagani Huayra Roadster BC will be built, each with a $3.4 million price tag (Php 175 million) plus VAT. It is set to make its public debut at this year's Concours D'Elegance in Pebble Beach.
