All-new Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid revealed at 8th PIMS

It's been a long time coming, but Suzuki Philippines Inc (SPH) has kept its word on bringing hybrid vehicles to the country.

Serving as the brand's premier electrified model in the country is the 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid. First making its regional debut in Indonesia, the automaker has chosen the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) for its official preview in the market.

Beginning with the most important upgrade, the 1.5-liter K15B engine now benefits from Suzuki's innovative mild-hybrid system dubbed the Smart Hybrid Technology. The powertrain now comes with an integrated starter generator (ISG) and a lithium-ion battery pack. This gives the Ertiga Hybrid 104.7 PS (or 105 PS) and 138 Nm of torque.

While it doesn't get extra horsepower or torque, the MPV receives fuel-saving technologies thanks to the Smart Hybrid System. These include automatic start/stop while idling, regenerative braking that recharges the lithium-ion batteries, as well as torque assist that delivers faster acceleration while under load. Power is then sent to the tried-and-tested 4-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.

When it comes to exterior updates, SPH gave the Ertiga Hybrid a new front grille, an updated tailgate garnish, more stylish 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, automatic projector headlights, and auto-folding side mirrors with integrated LED turn signals.

Inside the Ertiga Hybrid are subtle updates. These include a restyled instrument cluster and multi-info display, new fabric seats and cabin trim, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
