2024 Hyundai Santa Fe goes boxy for its fifth generation

Remember when spy photographers managed to get pictures of what looked like the all-new Hyundai Santa Fe? While some initially thought it was a heavily camouflaged Land Rover of some sort, the spies say that this is actually the next-generation Santa Fe.

After several sightings and spy pictures hitting the web, the cat is officially out of the bag and the spies were 100% correct. This is indeed the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe, and boy did the designers not hold back.

Instead of giving the midsize crossover SUV an evolutionary redesign, Hyundai decided to throw out the old design and start with a clean slate. The result is a radical new look for the fifth generation that they claim combines nature-meets-city appeal while also incorporating outdoor lifestyle trends.

With an emphasis on maximizing cargo capacity while also boasting a more muscular exterior, the 2024 Santa Fe meets a grandeur exterior along with a high-end cabin and futuristic-looking interior. Starting with the front fascia, the all-new Santa Fe features a tall hood, H-shaped headlights, and H-shaped elements on the LED daytime running lights that also double as the turn signals.

The center of the grille is illuminated which further highlights the H-style motif of the Santa Fe. And in case you haven't noticed it yet, even the lower front section of the 2024 Santa Fe gets the H-style finish that gives the vehicle its unmistakable look. When viewed from the side, the crossover SUV comes with a long wheelbase, a distinct roofline, and muscular fenders that house massive 21-inch alloy wheels. Combined with the short overhangs and the 2024 Santa Fe looks every bit like an adventure vehicle ready for the outdoors.

Last but not least is the boxy and simple rear. While it may not be as eye-catching as the front end, Hyundai still made sure it's a looker from the back thanks to the H-shaped taillights, Defender-like quarter glass panels, and the well-defined large tailgate.

Hop inside and the 2024 Santa Fe welcomes occupants to a spacious interior. The second and third-row seats can fold fully flat which Hyundai claims will deliver class-leading interior space. With Hyundai looking to attract those who want to enjoy the great outdoors, the Santa Fe's increase in cargo space will allow those to maximize the vehicle's interior space.

Also, the all-new Santa Fe comes with a high-tech and luxurious cabin space. Soft-touch wood panels, Nappa leather seats, and the suede headliner all provide the interior with a cozy and opulent look and feel. On the technology front, the 2024 Santa Fe gets a pair of wireless charging pads for the front, a 12.3-inch digital display for the instrument cluster as well as the touchscreen infotainment, along with what looks like LED ambient lighting.

Powertrain options for the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe are not yet available at this time. However, we won't be surprised if it will be available with a wide array of turbocharged and electrified engines. These may include a turbo-diesel, a turbo-gasoline, a hybrid, as well as a plug-in hybrid.

Hyundai will officially hold the full reveal of the 2024 Santa Fe later this August via YouTube. With the automaker still coy about its other features, all we can do for now is wait and see.
