Chery's new EV sub-brand iCar reveals sleek and sporty GT concept
Think Chery, and more than likely you'll think of the brand's line of Tiggo crossovers. From the humble Tiggo 2 Pro all the way to the high-tech Tiggo 8 Pro, Chery today offers a wide range of high-riding vehicles for every discerning customer.
So imagine our surprise when we saw this sleek and sporty EV make its public debut at the 2023 Auto Shanghai. It's called the iCar GT concept, and no it's not a collaboration project between Chery and Apple. Instead, it's the brand's newest independent EV brand that's aimed at the younger generation of car buyers.
Featuring a low-slung body, scissor doors, and an aerodynamic shape, the iCar GT concept is a looker from every direction. It also gets a distinct pair of T-shaped LED headlights and taillights that appear to resemble the T-shaped logo of Tesla oddly. Also worth mentioning is the vehicle's unique illuminated wheels, broad shoulder lines, and an integrated spoiler at the back.
Moving inside and the iCar GT greets occupants with a steering yoke, LED ambient lighting, a large center touchscreen infotainment, a touchpad-like device on the center console, specially-designed pedals, and uniquely-designed seats. Given its concept looks on the inside, we won't be surprised if iCar decides to tone it down for the production version.
iCar did not mention any specifications about the GT concept. But given its supercar-like design and appearance, the production version could come with multiple electric motors and a large capacity battery pack. In addition, RWD or AWD versions of the iCar GT might be available once the vehicle enters production.
