Shanghai 2025: Chery previews Himla pickup truck
Chery previews new Himla pickup truck at Auto Shanghai 2025

Chery International brought out its entire house of brands for the public to see at Auto Shanghai 2025, but one of their biggest reveals in the show is that they are set to compete in a pickup truck size category where the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and Mitsubishi Triton belong.
Making its public debut is the new Chery Himla pickup truck. The Himla nameplate is set to be used in a similar fashion as Chery’s Tiggo. This time, Himla will span a model lineup of compact to mid-size and large pickups powered by petrol, diesel, and electric powertrains.

The nameplate was inspired by the Himalayan mountain range, and also is an acronym for High performance, Innovation, Multifunctional, Longevity, and All-terrain capability.
The pickup truck shown at the Shanghai motor show appears to be identical to the Chery KP11 prototype shown in Wuhu last year. The front end has a three-piece headlight design with the DRLs mounted high, while the large octagonal grille proudly features the CHERY typeface.
Official dimensions are yet to be revealed by Chery, but the Himla looks to be similar in size to the current-generation Ford Ranger. Chery also seems to have taken inspiration from the Ranger’s added functionality with the side bed steps present on the previewed model. Topping off the exterior is a set of 18-inch wheels painted in black and wrapped in all-terrain tires.

While earlier plans did not include a diesel powertrain, the Himla will be powered by a turbodiesel engine developed by Chery. But even more interesting is that Chery is also working on a diesel plug-in hybrid variant for the pickup truck.
We’ll get to know more about the Himla pickup truck as Autoindustriya.com takes part in the Chery International Business Summit at Wuhu, China. Stay tuned for further details.
