Shanghai 2025: GWM Tank 300 goes hardcore with new Hooke Edition
The Tank 300 Hooke Edition comes with plenty of chassis and exterior changes

The Tank 300 by GWM is already an impressive 4x4 in its own right. But that doesn’t mean the brand is resting on its laurels to make the Tank 300 even more capable off the beaten path. Also revealed at the 21st Auto Shanghai is the 2025 Tank 300 Hooke Edition. Named after a famous (and grueling) trail in the People’s Republic, GWM went all out to make the 4x4 SUV even more hardcore.

For starters, the Tank 300 Hooke Edition gets a solid front axle that replaces the stock front independent suspension for better off-road capability. It also comes with what GWM describes as “disconnecting struts”, which could mean disconnecting sway bars. This is a common feature found in other 4x4s, such as Jeep Wranglers, which translates to less body roll when going off-road.

Those with keen eyes may also notice that the Tank 300 Hooke Edition is taller and more rugged-looking thanks to new 18-inch beadlock-style alloy wheels, Cooper all-terrain tires, a special front bumper, and a new trim design on the front wheel arches to make it stand out more.

Other details about the Tank 300 Hooke Edition remain a mystery. However, the special edition 4x4 could be powered by the brand’s new 4.0L twin-turbo V8, which was also shown at the ongoing auto show. Given the Hooke Edition’s enhanced capability, it would make sense to fit such an SUV with a more powerful engine under the hood.

For now, GWM is busy conducting the final tests for the Tank 300 Hooke Edition, although we won’t be surprised if the brand will officially reveal it later this year.
