We want Jetour to bring the X90 Plus to the Philippines

When Jetour Auto Philippines made its presence felt at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), it went all out. From the X70, X70 Plus, Dashing, and the Ice Cream EV, the brand has a vehicle available for every type of customer.

But despite offering several models already, we believe they could bring another vehicle into the country. While the X70 Plus already serves as the company's fully-equipped three-row crossover SUV, the Chinese automaker still has another 7-seater crossover.

It's called the X90 Plus and it's bigger and plusher. Jetour showed us the model when we were in China. The X90 Plus is not only bigger, but it also has more equipment and features. Beginning with its size, it measures 4838mm long, 1914mm wide, 1775mm tall, and has a 2830mm wheelbase. Compared to the X70 Plus, the X90 Plus is longer by 89mm, wider by 14mm, and 55mm taller. Its wheelbase is also longer by 110mm.

Style-wise, the X90 Plus features a chiseled design that appears to be European-inspired. The front fascia is dominated by a massive chrome grille and is complemented by a pair of sleek LED headlights. There are also cube-shaped lighting elements on the far corners of the vehicle which give it a more discerning look.

The vehicle has sharp lines, outlined creases, and muscular curves along the side. And in case you haven't noticed it yet, it has large multi-spoke 20-inch alloys. Also worth mentioning about the X90 Plus is its rear. With its Audi-like LED taillights, dual exhaust garnishes, and a chrome centerpiece on the tailgate, the X90 Plus is also a beauty when viewed from behind.

Hop inside and the X90 Plus shows off its luxurious and fully decked-out interior. A pair of digital screens immediately greet the driver and front passenger – one is the digital instrument panel while the other is the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment. There is also another screen on the center console which serves as the digital climate control system for the X90 Plus.

Other niceties available inside the X90 Plus include a full-leather interior, a D-cut leather steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats with memory function, a mobile wireless charger, a power tailgate, USB charging ports, a rear center armrest, a 360-degree camera system, a panoramic sunroof, and a host of intelligent driver aids that include blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, hill-descent/hill-start assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Under the hood of the X90 Plus is not a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine. Instead, it gets a slightly bigger 1.6-liter turbo inline-four with direct injection. It puts out 197 PS at 5500 rpm and 290 Nm of torque at 2000 to 4000 rpm. Power is then sent to the wheels via a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

For now, Jetour Auto Philippines appears to have no plans yet of bringing the X90 Plus. In fact, the automaker shared that the next vehicle that they will be bringing is the T-2 which will be arriving in September 2023. But with three-row crossover SUVs proving to be more popular than ever, should the company actually bring the X90 Plus here?
