NAIAx extension to BGC, Parañaque awaiting approval
San Miguel Corporation, DPWH waiting on approval to extend NAIAx to BGC, Parañaque

In a few years, we might be able to take the NAIA Expressway (NAIAx) from the airport terminals straight to BGC without having to go down to Sales Road. San Miguel Corporation (SMC), the operators of Skyway, NAIAx, TPLEX, and SLEX, has proposed to extend the portion of NAIAx up to Lawton Avenue, in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig and along Imelda Avenue in Parañaque.
According to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), secretary Mark Villar, the agency is currently awaiting approval from the Investment Coordination Committee (ICC) of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA). Once approved, however, expect the construction of the NAIAx extension to begin soon after. According to Villar, the approval of the NAIAx extension project is expected to be approved within the first quarter of the year.
Once approved, the project will help ease traffic congestion in Magallanes, EDSA-Pasay, and along Sales Road. SMC expects travel time from Coastal Road, and NAIA Terminals 1, 2, 3, and SM Mall of Asia to BGC to be reduced to just 10 minutes. Also included in the plans are additional NAIAx ramps from NAIA Terminals 1 and 2 all the way to SM Sucat, where it can connect with C5 extension.
The NAIAx extension project will greatly benefit motorists going to and from Sucat, Las Pinas, and C5 who often get stuck in gridlock traffic along the airport road. Once complete, motorists will no longer have to brave the 30 minute to hour-long traffic gridlock.
There is no word yet on when construction is set to begin and when it is projected to be completed. Hopefully, NEDA approves the construction of the NAIAx extension soon.
