Suzuki is set to make a buzz in Southeast Asia with the launch of two new models later this year. This was officially confirmed by Tadaomi Suzuki, Chairman of the Executive Board of Suzuki Motor Thailand Co. Ltd.

Since Suzuki Motor Thailand will transition into an importer/distributor business model after announcing they will close down their factory in Rayong, the brand adjusted its business plan to import more vehicles from various countries. As a result, they will now be bringing global models for the Thai market. Hopefully, this will also signal other Suzuki distributors in the region like the Philippines to bring more global models to Southeast Asia.

There is no word yet as to what exact models Suzuki will bring to Thailand. But based on the information our friends from headlightmag were able to gather, one of the vehicles will be the Fronx. First launched in India, the Suzuki Fronx is a Raize-sized crossover SUV that measures 3995mm long, 1765mm wide, and 1550mm tall.

It's available with two engine options; a naturally-aspirated 1.2L three-cylinder that makes 90 PS with 113 Nm of torque and a 1.0L turbocharged Boosterjet inline-three that produces 100 PS with 148 Nm of pull. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The other possible vehicle Suzuki could bring to Thailand is the e Vitara. It's the brand's global EV and is available with an electric 4WD system on high-grade models and a 2WD version for the lesser variants. The unique-looking e Vitara is available with a single electric motor that produces 144 PS or 174 PS and 189 Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the 4WD version makes more with 183 PS and 300 Nm of pull. Available battery packs include 49 kWh and 61 kWh.

With the Fronx and e Vitara set to be available in Thailand later this year, we're wondering if Suzuki Philippines could also get their hands on these two crossovers.
