The refreshed Toyota Avanza has been in the market for quite awhile now and is due for a mild upgrade. Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) appears to have thought about it as well after the company recently revealed the 2018 Avanza Veloz. Essentially a sportier version of the mini MPV, the Veloz now serves as the new top-of-the-range model and gets exclusive exterior and interior revisions.

Up front, the Avanza Veloz sports a new front grill coupled to a more aggressive looking front bumper. Meanwhile, the rear section gets a unique rear bumper along with a smoked chrome taillight garnish and trim piece. Beyond that, the 15-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels have been retained as well as the tailgate-mounted spoiler.

Inside, pretty much everything remains the same apart from the all-black upholstery that covers the entire cabin. The steering wheel and gear shifter are now wrapped in leather while the chrome door handles further spruce up the interior. Also making its way in the 2018 Avanza Veloz is a touchscreen infotainment system that comes with navigation as standard.

Driving the sportier-looking Avanza is the same 1.5-liter 2NR-VE four-cylinder engine with Dual VVT-i found in the top-spec G models. It produces 103 PS at 6000 rpm along with 136 Nm of torque at 4200 rpm. It is then mated to four-speed automatic transmission.

Available colors for the 2018 Avanza Veloz include Black Metallic, Silver Metallic, White and a new hue called Red Mica Metallic.

The Toyota Avanza Veloz retails for Php 1,025,000.
