After several teasers, Geely Philippines to reveal its B-segment sedan on Feb 25

Throughout the month of January, you have probably seen Geely Philippines posting several teaser videos of an upcoming model. While they have tried their best to hide its name and have only shown portions of the vehicle, we already know that it’s going to be the Geely Emgrand.

Fast forward to February, and Geely has revealed more of the upcoming sedan. From the distinct front grille, full-width LED taillights, as well as showing the interior, the Emgrand is ready to give other subcompact four-doors a run for their money. But when will Geely actually launch its latest model?

Geely Philippines has announced that come February 25, 2022, the all-new Emgrand will be making its official debut in the country. This means we’re only two weeks away before Geely joins the B-segment sedan market that includes the Toyota Vios, Honda City, Nissan Almera, and even the MG5.

First revealed in China back in August 2021, the Emgrand sits on the same B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA) as the Geely Coolray. But beyond that, the Emgrand will have its own striking design. Borrowing styling cues from the Preface and Xingyue L crossover, the sedan gets a sleek and modern front fascia that consists of LED headlights and a stylish grille. We can also expect the Emgrand to come with the aforementioned full-width LED taillights, distinct alloy wheels.

Based on the teaser Geely released, the interior of the Emgrand will have a modern yet minimalistic design. It will have a digital instrument panel, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, as well as a flat-bottom steering wheel. Other features that could be available on the Emgrand include leather seats, automatic climate control, a two-tone white and blue interior, and an electronic parking brake.

Details about the Emgrand’s powertrain for the Philippine market are still a mystery. However, it will most likely come with a 1.5-liter naturally-aspirated inline-four. The engine makes 114 PS with 147 Nm of torque and is mated to a CVT that drives the front wheels.

Pricing and variants for the Geely Emgrand have not yet been released. But given that it’s aimed directly against the likes of the Vios, City, Almera, and MG5, expect the Emgrand to be priced very competitively.

Be sure to stay tuned on February 25 when Geely officially launches its first-ever sedan in the Philippines.
