Honda Cars Philippines Inc introduces more high-tech Odyssey for 2018
After debuting in its home market of Japan last October, the updated Honda Odyssey is now officially in the country. Available in EX-V Navi and EX variants, the 2018 Odyssey aims to deliver a more luxurious and comfortable mobility in the minivan segment.
Beginning with the top-spec EX-V Navi, it now comes with a new front grill design finished in dark chrome. Meanwhile, the front bumper gets a sportier look and comes LED fog lights. The door handles, on the other hand, also get the dark chrome treatment for a more sophisticated look. Finshing it all off are the smoked LED taillights that are bright to see day or night.
Over to the entry-level EX, Honda gave it the Aero exterior styling which consists of new front and rear bumper designs, along with a platinum front grill. Also, unlike the EX-V which gets LED fog lights, the EX is only equipped with halogen units. Redesigned 16- and 17-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior revisions in both the EX-V Navi and EX Odyssey.
Like the pre-updated version, the EX-V Navi sticks to a seven-seat layout (2-2-3) with the second row benefitting from captain chairs with ottomans. New trim designs such as black wood and silver trim panels and a large armrest with center console also make their way inside the EX-V Navi. To keep passengers entertained, a 9-inch rear entertainment system with DVD and HDMI playback comes as standard as well. Full leather upholstery blankets all of the seats in the top-spec EX-V Navi.
As for the EX, it comes with an eight-seat layout (2-3-3) and all of the seats are wrapped in soft fabric. The second row seats can be split-folded 60:40 which allows for a more flexible storage layout. Both variants come with the third row Magic Seats that can easily stow luggage underneath while still providing seating for three passengers.
Other in-car features available in the 2018 Odyssey include smart entry with engine start/stop button, seven-inch touchscreen audio display with AM/FM radio, Bluetooth and USB, and navigation as such (EX-V Navi only).
Driving the 2018 Honda Odyssey is the carried-over 2.4-liter DOHC i-VTEC four-cylinder engine that is mated to an Earth Dreams continuously variable transmission (CVT). It generates 175 PS at 6200 rpm along with 225 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It even comes with fuel-saving features such as the Eco-Coaching ambient light, Econ (Economy) mode and the Idle-Stop system.
When it comes to safety, both variants come with six airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brakeforce distribution, vehicle stability assist, hill-start assist, speed sensing automatic door locks and multi-view reverse camera. Additional safety features that are standard on the EX-V Navi include: blind-spot information, cross traffic monitoring and an improved smart parking assist system with parking sensors.
Four colors will be available for the 2018 Odyssey: Super Platinum Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl (EX-V Navi only), Premium Twinkle Black Pearl (+ Php 20,000) and Premium White Pearl (+Php 20,000).
Pricing of the 2018 Honda Odyssey are as follows:
