Kia's newest crossover has landed in the country. After a lengthy teaser campaign and giving interested buyers a special early-bird discount, the 2021 Kia Stonic is now available, serving as the brand's most affordable crossover, starting at PhP 735,000.
The Stonic has a bold exterior design that consists of projector-type halogens, signature tiger-nose grille, sporty front, and rear bumpers, and wraparound LED taillights. The EX variant comes with LED daytime running lights as standard, while the LX versions come with foglights. The Stonic also comes with 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 195/60/R16 tires which is standard across the range.
The Stonic can be specified in either monotone or two-tone colors. The monotone range is Clear White, Extreme Blue, and Prime Red. Meanwhile, the two-tone hues come with a blacked-out roof and come in Clear White, Flame Orange, and Flash Yellow. The latter is only available on the EX version.
Size-wise, the 2021 Stonic measures 4100mm long, 1735mm wide, and 1532mm tall. It also has a 2570mm wheelbase and a generous 185mm ground clearance.
Inside, all models of the 2021 Stonic come with black fabric seats, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 3.5-inch multi-info display, six-speaker audio system, audio controls on the steering wheel, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats. Those looking for automatic climate control, a push-start button, and a driver's seat with height adjust can find those on the top-of-the-line EX.
Under the hood, the Kia Stonic is powered by a 1.4-liter, naturally-aspirated inline-four. It makes 100 PS (95 PS on the manual) along with 132 Nm of torque. Power is then sent to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission. The LX models come with front disc brakes and rear drum brakes, while the EX comes exclusively with disc brakes on all corners.
In terms of safety features, all variants of the Stonic come with the following: anti-lock brakes, dual SRS front airbags, rear ISOFIX child seat anchors, and a reverse camera. Only available for the top-of-the-line EX version are electronic stability control (ESC), hill-start assist (HSA), rear parking sensors, and an anti-theft system.
With Kia Philippines sourcing the Stonic from China, they were able to take advantage of the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement. Pricing of the 2021 Kia Stonic are as follows:
